Dear Jane,

Links Road area - parking consultation

I am writing to you following a visit to Links Road Ardayre Road, Montgomerie Road and Seabank Road alongside Cameron Ramsey. The visit was part of an ongoing conversation with residents regarding congestion on Links Road.

While many residents are happy with the ongoing consultation and potential outcomes, some did raise concerns which I promised I would pass along to you at the Ayrshire Roads Alliance.

Firstly, residents living on roads surrounding Links Road expressed concern that the current consultation focuses solely on Links Road and does not address the wider area. They feel any changes on Links Road could simply displace the problem onto neighbouring streets. Could you provide reassurance that measures are being considered to prevent any adverse impact on surrounding roads?

Secondly, some residents were frustrated that they had previously submitted substantial evidence and suggestions during an earlier consultation which took place March 2025, but feel their views were not reflected in subsequent proposals. As a result, they questioned the value of participating in the current 2026 consultation. Could you confirm whether previous resident submissions in 2025 will be considered as part of the current process?

Finally, residents of streets surrounding Links Road raised concerns that there had been insufficient communication with them throughout the 2026 consultation process- either through direct contact from the ARA or through signposting to the consultation. Could you clarify the following:

the scope of engagement undertaken to date about the 2026 consultation
if only residents of Links Road were contacted during the 2026 consultation
what steps can be taken to ensure that residents who do not live on Links Road, though may be affected by any changes, are included in future engagement and planning for the area?
