Letter to South Ayrshire Council over Diving Club cuts

On Monday, along with Elaine Stewart MP, I wrote to the Chief Executive of South Ayrshire Council over concerns about cuts in their budget that could lead to the phasing out of Ayr Diving Club.

Members, and parents of members, of Ayr Diving Club have written to use concerned that cuts in the South Ayrshire Council budget could lead to the phasing out of the club. As you may know, the club operated our of the Citadel leisure centre. The pool at the Citadel is one of four diving pools in Scotland and the only pool with diving boards in the west of Scotland.

We support the club's continued use of the Citadel and we hope the council and the club organisers can reach an agreement so we do not lose this important community asset. We have asked Stephen Penman, the Chief Executive of SAC, to provide an update on the discussions between the council and the club.
